Collecting campaigns throughout the country figure amongst the National Sound Archive’s most important missions. Since its creation, the CAMM has set up a collection unit equipped with a mobile studio designed to operate a systematic coverage of the whole country in order to record various musical expressions, and primarily the expressions that are at risk of disappearing forever once those who practice them disappear. The ultimate objective of this work is to establish a Tunisian musical map. Both digital and analogue recordings on magnetic tape are made. Each operation is systematically recorded on video as well as on photo. In the regions of the country, the network of cultural centres cooperates in identifying informers and sometimes also in the recording process.
